I remain a DaBaby believer, I think he’s very talented and could make a really really great album. But sadly for now he keeps making the same song over and over again. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy his song formula, I just think it’s getting old. Most of the songs are expectedly confident and braggadocios. However DaBaby throws in a couple of surface level sad songs and themes (SAD SH*T), but these aren’t really creative and in my opinion “SAD SH*T” is the worst song on the album. On various other songs where he stays closer to the DaBaby norm, he sounds far more charismatic and more enjoyable. The sad thing is that if that’s all he can do then he is put into a box. That box can be fun, but I still think he can be more than that. I think his delivery and voice on songs like “TALK ABOUT IT” and “BLAME IT ON BABY”, were infectious and exciting. The only problem was it sounds exactly like every good song by him, because if he makes something different it’s bad. His lyrics weren’t mind blowing or particularly insightful, but I wasn’t expecting that. Apart from the casual uncomfortable racism on “LIGHT SKIN SH*T” and the feeble attempt at a sad boy hours song (SAD SH*T) I thought this album was just okay. Some good parts, but disappointing.

Favourite Songs: TALK ABOUT IT, ROCKSTAR, JUMP, BLAME ON BABY.

Score: 5.1/10
