So this new Drake project was pretty out of nowhere. I’m pretty sure this his one of his mixtapes he makes before a real album. The things Drake makes music about is really just immature and a bit lame for his age. It’s something I call phone-hop, where a rapper is seriously rapping about leaving girls on read, ig stories, post notifications, emojis. Drake is the king of that. It’s appealing to like 13 yr old fuck boys but kinda cringe. That being said, when he wasn’t doing this his lyrics were pretty good. It was him looking back on his life and career, lyrics about his kid, his significant other. It was for the most part a good range lyrical content for drake. On a lot of the songs on this album drake’s voice was the highlight. When he was rapping, he was fluid and I guiltily enjoyed his dumb metaphors he always says. When he sang tho, he sounded confident and authentic. On “Not You Too” he outsung Chris Brown (Yes I hate him but he’s good at singing). I was happy about this one, good for drake. I think “Toosie Slide” is an okay song, but I think drake lost all creative integrity by making it.
Favourite Songs: When To Say When, Chicago Freestyle, Not You Too, Time Flies, Losses
