Everything is A-Ok is an ironic title describing the fires that raged in Australia about 4 Global disasters ago. While I liked the concept and am pleased that there was an album made about the fires, I thought that it wasn’t enough of a statement. I didn’t think that this was particularly good or bad, to me it just seemed to be a collection of catchy rock songs that are loosely based on the bush fires. A lot of the album, I thought was bland, in comparison to the last two Violent Soho records. Although some of the songs were fun and catchy and took an interesting perspective on various issues, including social media, mental health and of course the fires. Also, I don’t talk about album art, but this cover is so awful and I think decreased my enjoyment slightly. This is disappointing coming from a band whose album covers I’ve traditionally been impressed with, “Waco” and “Hungry Ghost”. Listen to it if you really want to, but “Wicked Nature” by the Vines is like a better version of this album.

Favourite Songs: Pick it Up Again, Canada, Lying on the Floor

Score: 5.6/10
