EVERYTHING IS RECORDED is a project by the founder of XL records, Richard Russel and FRIDAY FOREVER is the second full length album. It’s a collaborative hip-hop album with appearances from plenty of different rappers and singers. I’ve always enjoyed albums of this nature, Dreamville have done two of them and CactusJack did one last year. FRIDAY FOREVER was a fusion of electronic, jazzyish instrumentals and old school hip-hop verses and structure. On this album there were mostly features from UK rappers, that I was very impressed with, I found a lot of new rappers through this album. There was even a great Ghostface song (03:15 AM /CAVIAR). There were some songs in which there really wasn’t anything going on, it was just soft nothing vocals over a long synth, I found myself zoning out during these songs. The cover just really did not match the time of music. It suggests a psychological or maybe a horror core album. Despite the misleading album cover, I really really enjoyed a majority of songs on here. I liked the beats, the verses, the samples. I thought that the unrefined posse type structure was really great and rare in today’s hip-hop culture. I would recommend if you like alternative, experimental hip-hop or UK rap.

Favourite Songs: 01:32 AM/ WALK ALONE, 02:56 AM/ I DONTWANT THIS FEELING TO STOP, 04:21 AM/ THAT SKY.

Score: 8.4/10
