I’m your empress of - This is a pop album that is incredibly rich and emotional, it dives into topics such as, heartbreak, feminism, relationships and family history. The sound of this album is really nice it’s elegant and beat focused, rather than focused on melody. Each song is proceeded by words of wisdom from Empress If’s own mother I believe, this added a nice structure to the album. Although what was being said was touching and powerful, I didn’t think it was as imaginative as I would’ve liked. The lyrics for the most part were thought provoking, but seemingly surface level. I think that this album has a lot of great elements, but also lacked some... I almost can’t put my finger on what’s not doing it for me, it might be extremely played out subject maters, done in a run-of-the-mill fashion. I think that’s it. I think there are plenty of songs for you, if really romantic pop music with trap style beats.
Favourite Songs: U Give It Up, Give Me Another Chance, Not The One.
Score: 6/10
