This is the newest Black Eyed Peas album of soulless club bangers and this time it’s a Latin-Trap-House fusion. I went into this album so sure I was going to hate it. I did basically. But there were some pretty alright ear worm hooks. The worst part of the album was the lyrics. I don’t speak Spanish, so I’ll only talk about the English lyrics. The Spanish parts could’ve been illmatic for all I know. Anyway, the lyrics were lame as hell and disgustingly lazy. I groaned out loud at least once per song. Far far far too often will.i.am used the rap format “something something like something”. For example, “we build like LEGO” or “you get me high like ganja”. It felt like almost every line, it sucked so much. I was towards the end of the album and I thought to myself, “huh there hasn’t been a cringy covid line yet”, but then “NEWS TODAY” started. This was most painfully literal reflection of the pandemic anyone could make. It just sounded tacky and insincere. This is the first B.E.P. Album without Fergie since 2000, so it had even less substance. I guess as just an album for discos and clubs it did the job, but the lyrics were still some of the worst I’ve heard.
