HAIM are a pop rock group consisting of 3 sisters from California. This is their third album, but the first one I’ve listened to. When I started listening, I really wasn’t into the first 4 songs. I thought they were are a bit messy and simply didn’t sound very good. I started enjoying the album towards the middle. Track 5 to Track 10 were some of the best songs I had heard all year. It was mainly thanks to the amazing amazing hooks and choruses on mostly every song. They were catchy and exactly what you want from a pop song. As well as this there was great production, especially the funky guitar and bass lines. The downfall of this album was the unwanted changes in the flow of the songs. The best example of this is the song “Another Try”, in the middle of this song they just stop singing and her voice fades out. It’s annoying because, as I said it ruins the flow. If it wasn’t for this part I think this might be close to a perfect song. But alas. Overall I thought a lot of the songs were pretty great with maybe just one straight up dud (“I Know Alone”). You should listen to it if you want 5 hooks stuck in your head at the same time.
Favourite Songs: Gasoline, 3am, Don't Wanna, Another Try, Leaning On You, I've Benn Down
Score: 8.1/10
