I can’t think of many bands or artists I’ve been anticipating new music from more than Peach Pit. To me their music has always felt nostalgic even when I listened to it for the first time. Their combination of soft indie rock jams, relatable adolescent struggles and creative imagery that is as vivid as it is vague, is so special and never gets old. I’m extremely happy to report that this album is no different, every song is catchy, relatable, funny at times and uses powerful imagery without blatantly describing a setting. Peach pit uses Metaphors in “Black Licorice” and “Puppy Grin” as a great way to drive narrative and meaning in the songs. The range of stories on this is great. There’s a heart felt love song to a girl who figure skates and it puts to use figure skating terms (Figure 8). There’s a Fuckboy’s self reflection and subsequent self hatred (Feelin’ Low). There’s the meeting of the lead singers parents told from the perspectives their best friend, who is describing the bro times. There’s only a couple weak songs and they’re better than some band’s best song, so it’s just in comparison with the rest of the album. The musical ability is also shown consistently and there are some fantastic guitar solos, which I think is a lost art in newer music.

Favourite Songs: Feelin' Low (Fuckboy Blues), Black Liquorice, Figure 8, Puppy Grin, Brian's Movie, Shampoo Bottles, You and Your Friends

Score 9/10
